Nicola Ciotta

Founder of Baby Ballet Long Island

"As soon as I could walk I was wanting to dance, so from an early age I was in the studio with my Mum, who runs her own dance studio in England. The 14 years that I studied there I learned, not only solid technique and performance skills but also team work, confidence and respect.

My Mum has a great teaching ethos and instills an inner drive to succeed without rivalry or competition between others, which I loved and respected and hopefully pass on to my own students.

The solid training I had as a child helped me take my love of dance to the next level and I gained a place at the Northern Ballet School, Manchester. After graduating NBS on the Dance Teacher’s course with teaching certificates with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and the Imperial Society for the Teachers of Dance (ISTD), I enjoyed a very successful dance career all over the world working for Costa Cruise Lines, Legends, Showstoppers, Thursford Christmas Spectacular, Moore Entertainment and Paul Holman Associates to name a few.

After getting married and settling in New York, the birth of my daughter Rose was my inspiration to get back into the studio. I could see how much she enjoyed music and movement from such an early age so I went back to my teaching roots and decided to put together a program for her and other babies and toddlers to enjoy. Baby Ballet Long Island was born!  I hope that I through my passion for teaching children and ballet, I can pass on the joy that I have had for the art for practically all my life. Ballet teaches a lot of things; confidence, body awareness, team work, musicality, to persevere and that practice does make a difference, discipline and to see detail, but it is also something that you can just feel, enjoy and love. Even at an early age you can see the little ones developing all the above skills. They are skills that they will use every day throughout their lives. "

Due to the very busy schedule we have on Long Island, I have an excellent team of Teachers to help me.

Let me introduce Long Island's finest Baby Ballet Teachers:

Angelica Hahn, born and raised on Long Island, found her passion for dance when she was a child. Throughout her childhood, she trained at various dance studios including Upper Room Dance Academy, Variations a Dancer's Studio, as well as graduating from Long Island High School for the Arts in the class of 2009 as a dance major. Here she studied the ballet technique, the Cecchetti method, and modern techniques of Martha Graham and Lester Horton. The years following high school, she continued to train, but also began to pursue a career. In 2010-2011, Angelica was part of Innersoul Dance Company and in the 2011-2012 football season, she danced professionally for the NY Jets as a Flightcrew Cheerleader. She is now currently a dance director, choreographer and dancer for the Yellow Brick Road Theatrical Company, based on Long Island. Angelica has been a successful dance teacher and choreographer since the year of 2008 for all ages in styles including ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, and tap. She has a passion for teaching like she has a passion for dance!

Jeanna Campo was born and raised on Long Island and has been dancing since the age of 3 and was fully immersed in the Arts by the age of 8. She studied dance, voice and drama all through grade school, which is when her passion and love for the arts became known and evident. She attended Long Island High School for the Arts as a Dance Major and continued her arts education in college, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Music with a minor in Dance from Adelphi University. Jeanna has been performing professionally for over 10 years now, some roles including; Firedancer for NY Dragons Arena Football, lead vocalist for Hank Lane Entertainment in Manhattan, and Singer for Radio City Music Hall's Christmas Spectacular Arena Tour for 2 seasons.  She has been choreographing for Dance Recitals and Theatre Productions, as well as teaching dance, primarily Ballet, for over 14 years now at various studios and schools across the Island. Last year, Jeanna released her debut album, entitled "Spoken to my Heart," which was a life long dream of hers! She is presently the Worship Leader and Band/Choir Director at her local church and is a Private Vocal Coach. Jeanna feels privileged to teach and impart knowledge to her students and hopes to instill her love and passion for the arts to everyone!

Marissa Graham began her professional dance training at Ohman School of Ballet, under the direction of former NYCB soloist Frank Ohman and Diane Lichtenberger. She graduated from George Mason University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance, magna cum lade. She received the Mason Achievement Award 2011-2015 and the Kevin Campbell Summer Scholarship in 2014. While at Mason she had the opportunity to be a part of many works by her fellow students, as well as faculty members and guest artists including Luis Torres, Mark Morris, and Ulysses Dove under the direction of Alvin Ailey’s Hope Boykin. She is a teaching assistant at the School at Mark Morris Dance Center and a teacher at Integral Ballet in Long Island. Post graduation, she has performed with Jessica Gaynor and Impact Dance Collective. She has a passion for teaching as well as dance performance.

Miss Janine has been a ballet dance instructor on Long Island for over two decades. Knowing how vital a strong dance foundation is, her true passion & experience is specifically geared towards early childhood age children. She is also a Mother of 2 daughters (ages 9 & 6) who also have a love for dance. After 20 years of teaching, she considers it a privilege to have watched so many of her students grow to become aspiring, successful & professional dancers. She makes it a point to state to all of her young students that, “True dance is not just from what we learn in our heads, it comes first from our hearts.”

Miss Janine is also a fantastic photographer and is to thank for all the amazing photos on our website.
